American Autowire Vs Painless

Okay which one is the best fit and quality? I would also like to know if one is easer to install or has better instructions. The cost is about the same so I just want to know what everyone is using.

I've used Painless on several projects and have been pretty satisfied with the quality. American Autowire is great stuff, also. You can check out the instruction manual on the Painless website, here's the link.

AAW also makes the Highway series that are more of a universal kit, but a bit more cost effective.

Ron Francis has a pretty good reputation too, that's what I am using to rewire my 72, I've had great customer service with them so far, kit hasn't arrived yet but if you are still debating which company to use, honestly I've heard painless is not so painless.. I'll have updates in my build thread on the ron francis express kit install if you're interested

I'm a couple of days in on installing the AAW Complete Wiring kit on my 61, and satisfied with everything so far. The instructions, as displayed in an earlier post, are more pictures than step by step. I have a few questions coming up that I will contact the AAW helpline with and will let you know my impression of how that goes. I'm sure I'll have some questions for the electrical guys on this forum as I go along, which helps with my confidence as a novice.

if anyone is interested in Ron Francis, I have updates in my thread now of progress. Kit was divided by circuit into bags, very simple for the beginner like myself, if you are doing a factory resto the AAW is the way to go but for a personal or custom install I don't think it gets better than Ron Francis, it's nice to bypass the firewall plug completely for more reliable connections and passing of voltage straight to the panel or to the engine item without the resistance you get with the firewall plug. not that it's bad for factory but it's definitely a good upgrade to bypass it if you are going custom with it. my 72 fired first try & turned over pretty quick after sitting a couple months once i got thru the first 3 bags in the kit.
