1966 K10 Suburban - Rancho RS5000X shock review

Vehicle - 1966 Chevy K10 Suburban w/292
Wheel/Tire = 16x6 steelies, BF Goodrich KM5 255/85R16
Type of roads driven = Gravel/dirt roads and driveways. Two-lane mountain roads with rough/uneven surfaces. Some highway driving.

I recently replaced the Rancho shocks that came on the truck when purchased. Without spending crazy money on new shocks or modifying the shock mount locations to support more shock options (i.e. remote reservoir shocks, adjustable shocks etc). Providing this info for the 64-66 K10 owners out there, hope it's helpful.

Previous shock setup:
Front - Rancho 5119
Rear - Rancho 5143
These were quite new but incredibly bouncy, horrible at absorbing just the slightest of rough or uneven roads. Cornering control on pavement was very poor.

I ended with the below, cost effective, zero modifications required.
Rancho RS5000X:
Front - Rancho RS55119
Rear - Rancho RS55143

Noticeable difference/improvement in ride comfort on or off road. Very good at absorbing uneven or rough road. They also improved cornering control and reduced roll to a degree. This also resulted in a much quieter interior since the harshness of the previous shocks was greatly reduced.

Correct, SM420. Was surprised that the truck does quite well cruising at 60-65 mph on the HWY with this tranny/wheel/tire setup. But still contemplating a
Gear Vendors under/overdrive. That's a ways away though.

I've seen pics of your 66 panel, it's really nice. White and came out of Denver if I recall correctly?

Re: 1966 K10 Suburban - Rancho RS5000X shock review

Thanks for the info! I'll be looking at shocks when I get everything back on the frame. I swapped a k10 suspension onto my '66 frame so I'll have to do some measuring once thw weight is on the suspension.

Thanks for the info just ordered them for my K10. It was hard to find the rear with the 3/4 that worked.
