Re: Belltech 3121 Spindle Help/Question/Rant

As I get deeper into my truck build I realize more and more that customer service is what matters. Especially over price. Glad you’re getting squared away. I’ve always heard great things about ProPerformance...just wish they shipped to Hawaii.

That is great customer service
Really good the manufacturer and the retailer are stepping up and helping you with a refund

I refuse to buy CPP spindles, because of a previous problem that cost me money.

I just purchased McGaughys spindles from Summit Racing.
They price matched a cheaper price from www.grunionfabrication.com.
Summit has always treated me good so I send business there way when I can,... and their price match policy helps too.

I was hoping to buy the McGaughys spindles and report back in this thread.
But now you can see for yourself.

I painted my Belltech spindles,... so I doubt I can return them.
Summit would of also allowed you to return these spindles w/o issue something other vendors don't seemed to offer.
Brake-Clean can be used to remove the paint for others that might be in the same situation.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Belltech 3121 Spindle Help/Question/Rant

Well here’s my crude drawing.
I shipped my Belltech spindles back yesterday, and got my McGaughys spindles from Summit Racing today,... so no side by side picture.

The outer tie rod arm of the McGaughys spindle is approximately .220” thinner.
I think the Belltech spindles were reamed correctly, just not machined to the correct thickness.
That caused the articulation problem.

You’ll see all the spec differences in my drawing.

I also FORGOT that McGaughys doesn’t drill and tap their spindles for the dust shield. The boss is there. But they’re not drill.
That kinda sucks.
I’m sure the last set I got years ago were drilled and tapped.
Not a big issue on for the truck they are going on.

Re: Belltech 3121 Spindle Help/Question/Rant

Also the McGaughys spindles need some de-burring.
Lots of sharp edges from their machining process I guess.
Plus I like to clean up the tie rod arm with a little radius on the “wheel side” of the arm.
Now time for a quick coat of paint.

Sorry for the sideways pic.

Re: Belltech 3121 Spindle Help/Question/Rant

I got my McGaughys spindles in yesterday. They measure out in line with the stock spindles. I mounted one side, still working on the other. I’ll post up pics when I’m done. Mine were painted black already. No holes for the dust shield though. I’m okay with that. I did take a pic of the tie rod before I mounted it. I’ll post that now. Also the upper ball joint did seat better than the Belltech. The castle but was able to grab the cotter pin. Which it did not on the Belltech.

Re: Belltech 3121 Spindle Help/Question/Rant

Mine were black also but all the machines surfaces were bare metal.
After I took a flap disc to all the sharp corners,... mine needed paint.
