I do a lot of control valve and instrumentation work at coal fired and natural gas fired power plants. Working on probably $300,000+ in valve work at a combined cycle this fall. A bit on the combustion turbine but most around the heat recovery steam generator.

For my part of Arkansas I am the Fisher control valve/regulator and instrumentation engineer/account manager.

I work as the safety manager for our Mississippi Ag & Forestry Experiment Stations across the state. So basically do farm & building safety inspections & training for our staff with the ag depts within MS State University. Also manage our federal surplus property program as part of my "other duties as assigned". I get to interact with a big variety of people and ride the roads of our great state! When get to teach folks something new & getting them cool olive drab equipment to work with are my favorite parts!

So your other name is Work In Dirt? I guess 'soil' would be more appropriate

Well I have not been there in 34 years but a very striking resemblance.

Re: My job depends on Ag

I work for a very large corn milling plant. Our Mill grinds 340,000 bu. a day. We make corn oil, corn sweeteners, ethanol, enzymes, lactic acid, corn based plastics, animal feed etc. My plant is one where we take corn sugar and ferment it to end up with a low calorie sweetener called Erythritol. We granulate it, bag and sell it for foods and beverages.
We are the largest consumer of electricity in the state of Ne. I am one ant, in a huge anthill!

Re: My job depends on Ag

grew up on family operated farm growing corn, beans, wheat, various grasses, hay, beef cattle and chickens..

now we lease land to neighbor farmers until I can retire and move back.. for now I can only spend 1-2 months a year on priority chores and maintenance.. hope there's enough left in me 5 years from now so I can fire it up again, at some level anyway
