283 distributor identification - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Looking for description of 1964 and 65' distributor for a 283 engine. Need part number, from lots of searching, including parts book, think it may be
1111150??, described as "All 283 1963 to 1966". Confirming correct part number for distributor will be big help. Also so checking if cast iron or aluminum. Thanks for your help.

Les , what letter suffix code is on the engine block for the 64 that you have ?

for 1964 I think its 1111066 or 1111067 which is cast iron. 1965 uses the same exact number but the housing switches to cast aluminum. I will try and confirm this off my engines later.

My 65 has a 283, the # 1111486. Don't know if it is the one that came with the truck. It is cast.
