long to short

Anyone shorten a 49 truck from long to short bed? I would imagine its the same procedure as the 67-72 truck.

Re: long to short

I've shortened up a couple long bed leaf spring trucks. They're pretty simple to cut down. Chop the frame in back of the cab, measure it, make sure it's square and weld it back together.

Coil sprung trucks are a little harder (unless the cab is already off the truck). You can shorten it either under neath the cab or in back of the cab. Doing it in back of the cab you'll have to move the center cross member forward. CLASSIC TRUCKS magazine did a '65 GMC (Project Old School) LWB to a shorty a while back. You might be able to find the article on their web site.
