3 speed gasket question

I have a 3 speed in my 72 c10. The rear seal (were the small rear piece of trans bolts to main housing) is leaking like a siv. Going to replace the seal question is will I be able to just pull drive shaft out and do in the truck, or will the trans need to come out?

Re: 3 speed gasket question

IIRC it unbolts and slides back. You need to drain the fluid first and pull the speedo gear out. Emergency brake cable may be in the way a bit too.
