has anyone ever seen this before????

So I found a truck that I'm thinking of buying…. I'm just a little confused on the first letter of the vin. Take a look and tell me what you think. Keep in mind , the owner purchased the truck brand new off the lot and it had a 4x4 front axel…… he swears that he has never changed anything on the truck. what the heck does the T at the beginning of the vin stand for… thanks for your help… Tony

Re: has anyone ever seen this before????

That's a 2wd SPID. Even calls for rear leaf springs, you wouldn't see that option on a 4wd. Check the VIN on the frame. Also check the vin on the door, maybe someone just swapped the glovebox door onto this truck.

Edit: I also don't think front sway bars were an option on 4x4's of this era.

? My 4WD has rear leafs.

edit: not disagreeing that it's a 2WD SPID, just curious about 4WD's not having rear leafs.

2nd edit: just re-read what you wrote, you mean it wouldn't be an option because all 4WDs came with rear leafs?

Exactly. All 67-72 4wd's do, so it's not an option. Just like you don't see your transfer case on the SPID.
