I have a 1977 K-20, I would like to do the dual shock per wheel thing, has anybody out there ever done such a task? Where can a guy find the goods for the swap?

Dual shocks up front was an option on the GM trucks. So you can hit the junk yards for the few parts needed. Most manufacturers (shocks) sell the shocks as inner(stock) and outer(added). For the rear I swear I seen some ads for them can't remeber where. Could be just as easy to fabricate something. Rear dual shocks are bordering on not need in most cases and ride wise unwanted and useless.

I just used a longer grade 8 bolt and a spacer to mount up dual shocks on my K5. I've wheeled it pretty hard and haven't broke the mount so that's a cheap alternative

I have noticed alot of gmc and blazers of the 80-86 years have the dual shock brackets. I dont know if they will fit the dana 44 because most trucks of those years have the 10 bolt. Worth lookin at though.

I have new sets of the longer bolt / both frame brackets for front dual shocks avalible $50.00 shipped just bolt it up no holes to drill.

If he doesn't, I do. I just bought the front and rear dual mount kits from Skyjacker and now I am not going to use them.

i bought my dual shock mounts from pro comp. and just bolted them up. I know i probaly should run a weld but i dont have a welder right now.

You can buy the upper mount from GM, the lower is just a longer bolt and a spacer.

I do not think so, but I don't know for sure, they are for 73-87 trucks.

I was also considering the dual shocks, on my 71. Will the kits from pro comp/ skyjacker work on mine or are they different on 73 and up? It seems I would have to fabricate a mount for the bottom of the shock on the top side of the axle housing, or is there some sort of bracket for that too? Also why did some of you decide against it? I was told that it made the ride pretty harsh is that true?

I have no idea if 73-87 brackets would work on your application, you can call Skyjacker at (318) 388-0816, they were very, very helpful for me.
I decided not to use the dual brackets because I did not want to spend twice the money in shocks. I was going to send the brackets back, but figured somebody would would use them eventually.
Let me know if they will work for you. I paid $126 for both shipped, but I would settle for $100 shipped. They are brand new and still in the original packaging.

Danadena1960, Thanks for the offer but I was lookin for something a little different. I actually want to relocate my front shocks. Like alot of the newer trucks have where they are straight up and down directly over the axle instead of at an angle. I just want to do something different tired of looking like everyone else.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
