Rear end from a 66 ford Galaxie.

I have a 57 Chevy 3100 and was wondering if a 66 Galaxie 9" rear end will fit? I don't want to have to modify it due to lack of money. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You will have to modify the spring perches and shock mounts... not sure about width...

Re: Rear end from a 66 ford Galaxie.

you will have two different bolt patterns then// measureing width you need to do// with new axels and brake drums you can get the same bolt pattern

Thanks for the fast responses. Im putting a camaro front clip on my truck. Also I want to do a 4 link set up. I have tried to contact the seller to see if he can measure the distance between the drums but no word yet. he only wants $100 for it.

Re: Rear end from a 66 ford Galaxie.

You will want to measure WMS to WMS (Wheel Mounting Surface) to get an accurate measurement for comparison purposes. Measuring backing plate to backing plate is not the correct way to measure the width of a differential. Especially when comparing different manufactures of differentials. The reason is due to the fact that there are differences in brake shoe/drum widths.

Even with the Camaro front clip, you will have a 5 x 4.75 bolt pattern up front and likely 5 x 4.5 in the rear with a 9"
