Post wiring dilema....again....

ok i melted two wires yesterday when i treid to start my truck.. the wires melted was the one on the block on the right fender, and the one that goes on the terminal on the back of the altenator. those two wires are tied in to the red wire goign to the regulator, right above the regulator...are they aupposed to be teid in together? i thougth maybe this caused a short which melted the wires

hey josh...your alright. When i first saw this, i also thoguht it was a dope smokin old man thing, but after looking at my schematics, I saw this is right.

so what melted the wires? i cant find anythign that would cause it to melt, maybe because all my ground straps are gone, would that cause it? or would having a bigger wire from the battery cable to that block send too much current?

Hmmm, I forgot you said it melted...it is probably not wired properly somewhere or grounded out.

ok i think i may have foudn the problem, i gave in and checked a wiring diagram, and there seems to be a wire that goes from junction block back to the cab and then fuseblock i think, and that wire is missing, not even on the fuse block on my truck...maybe?

Mine did that when my regulator went south and fried my alt and boiled my battery. Rewired and new alt. and battery and was fine til I took the truck apart for restore.
