i would like some feedback. Wondering if it Would hurt the value of the blazer if I upgraded to front disc brakes? Also thinking of putting a v8 in it so I can pull a trailer easier.

I would hang onto the original 6 cylinder and just put it in storage.

Thoughts ?

Re: My new 1970 factory 2wd blazer

It would INCREASE the value to add disc brakes.
Use a quality kit from ECE. www.earlyclassic.com
They make conversion spindles now, for the 63-70 trucks.
Don't get conned into using 71-72 or 73-87 spindles.
Thats NOT required anymore.
You can add stock or dropped spindles also.
That's also a good time to get all the balljoints and tie rods.

Thanks for the feedback. That's the kit I had in mind from ECE.

What about a motor swap? Right now it has a 6 cyl 3 speed.

I doubt it would hurt the value.
These 2wd blazers are rare.
If it's in good shape it will bring GOOD money, no matter what engine/drivetrain combo is in it.

I totally agree. I dont think there is really any way to go wrong with modern updates to engine/drivetrain. I personally think it will add value to your already really nice blazer. For what its worth, I'm almost ready to install the porterbuilt extreme front and rear kit and a ls motor in mine and I am not concerned one bit about hurting its value. I feel it will add to it.

The things I find that turn me off are mostly body related. I'm not a fan of making them a roadster, shaving door handles, cutting or altering the dash to name a few. The upgrade you have mentioned are just that, upgrades. The bottom line is to enjoy it, you have a 2wd Blazer and most of the rest of us want one so make it yours.

Great Blazer. Putting a bigger engine it won't hurt anything, especially if you keep the original 6 stored away. Otherwise, I'd keep it as is. Really cool.

Re: My new 1970 factory 2wd blazer

Looks like the one that was sitting in Yarrow for a few years. I tried to buy it but never got a chance to. Then they moved & never saw it again. Where you located? What'd you get it for if you don't mind me asking? If it's the same one it just sat for years & was never driven lol Poor Blazer.

That is the coolest! The needle in a haystack! I know it is yours and you should do what you want but the 6 and 3 speed are so freaking rare, and a 2WD to boot. I would leave as is, or sell it to me

Thank you. Yeah I'm thinking I may leave it as is. May even put original wheels back on.

Do you know what the total production numbers were for the inline 6 2wd in 1970?

Re: My new 1970 factory 2wd blazer

Not a whole lot considering 2 wheel drive was already low numbers like 4000 and am guessing here but I would put that as 1000 tops aside peoe wanted a v8. If you ever resell it, matching numbers are a plus inost cases. I would keep it stock. If the engine is tired rebuild it. Stock to stock the 6 had almost as much torque as the v8. The extra 2 cylinders just upped the hp to get you there faster.

Yeah I was thinking the overall blazer number I think. So the 6 and three speed are even more rare at that point.

found this on the inside of the hood. 70-833. Any idea what that could mean? Looks like it must have been there from the factory

Looks to me that someone was recording the mileage for some reason.

There is a faint dash ( - ) in between the numbers though. If it was just miles, I would guess it would only be a comma ( , )

Now that I looked closer I see your dash but I also see what appears to be a comma. The numbers also appear to be written with a paint pen instead of a grease pencil. Things that make say "hmmmmm".I just took a guess let see what others chime in with.

Iv noticed prices on blazers both 4x4 and 2x4 have gone up.

Based on the photos I have provided what do you think the value is on mine? Mostly all original. Original inline 6 runs great too.

Re: My new 1970 factory 2wd blazer

It's worth whatever someone would pay for it. But I've seen a few on eBay and elsewhere go for 10-12 in unrestored form. What you have is very nice unmolested blazer. They are hard to find like that. Mine was pretty beat up when I got it. Everything was stripped on the interior. Had some junk seats and homemade brackets just welded to the floor. Guy basically just Baja dessert raced it before I got it. 2200$ for mine. Yours id pay the premium for since it is all there and In nice shape. So 8-12 k wouldn't be out of the question.
