Some of you asked for more pictures of the late model Silverado seats. Here you go.

Those fit in there real nice!

Where did you find them, and how much
did you have to pay (If you dont mind)?

Are those grey, or a shade of blue?

Thats what I originally wanted for my 59, I couldnt find a set, and if I did they wouldnt be cheap. I did however find awesome seats out of a Pontiac that are perfect... and for only 15 bucks. BTW they look real sharp in ur truck.

Do those bolt up to the stock seat mounting points? If not, what did you have to change?

Dano,
I paid $500 for the set at Walt & Verns Truck parts in Buckley, WA.

Solarus,
I'll let me good friend Stllookn answer that question as he did most of the work on the installation:

To install those seats you must remove all the existing mounting brackets...die grinder on the rivet heads works great for this. Align, mark and drill new holes. The rear outboard mounting point needs to be shimmed up about 1/4 inch...a couple of thick flatwashers should do. The other mounting points may need about one washer each to ensure the slides do not hangup on your carpet, depending how thick it is.

Dano,
Sorry, I forgot to answer your other question. They are a dark charcoal grey.

Those look real nice in your truck, I searched the loft
at Walt and Verns myself, but man were they expensive!!

I think I am settling for a set of e-bay Lexus Black Heated
buckets, and then adding a late model trans Am center console!
That is my hope anyway!

Thanks for the Info!!

Sweet lookin seat. I want one. I like it. Since Stllookn put em in I already know it's done right but others need to condsider with that kind of seat having the integral belts that the mounting hardware is critical. All of the loads in an accident will translate through to the floor mounting and if it's not done right the occupants and the entire seat can come dislodged as a unit with the mountings tearing right through the floor. Some engineering thought needs to be put into to many of the kinds of modifications that many of us make to our trucks.

A Valid point.

If bolting ours directly to the floor is secure, then having a bracket made that also bolts right up to the existing holes would be okay.

I am going to have some real beefy brackets made that will both elevate the seat, and maintain the stock strength!!

Good advice!!

Hey Orence1 do you get much tilt out of those seats? Do you have any rough measurements of the space to the back of the cab at the top and bottom of the seats?

Thanks Jared

I put a 60/40 split bench seat out of a 2000 'Burb in my '67. The seat sliders do not attatch to the floor. Each seat has four feet and the sliders mount between them and the seat. I drilled individual holes and tack welded 3/8 nuts onto 1/8 steel plates. Then I tacked the plates onto the underside of the cab to use as mounts for the seat bolts. It is a pretty burly setup and is much sturdier then the factory '67 bench setup. I plan on using seatbelts out of a '88-92 fullsize Chevy p/u but have not found a set yet in the color I want. If anybody is interested I will post pics.

I may have a pair out of a 99' - 02' Silverado LS available. They are charcoal grey, 6 way power buckets, and very clean.....no wear what so ever. A fellow board member has first shot, but if he doesn't take them, they will be available in the Denver area. They are taking up too much space in the garage, besides I am selling the house and don't want to move them.

$300 obo for the pair.

If anyone is interested, contact me later this week.

Danodmano. Stock seat mounting points only have to carry the load of the seat itself in an accident. You are restrained by the belts(for that matter in a frontal collision even some of the seat load is carried by you and the seat belt) that have their own very substantial mounting points.
With that newer seat that has integral belts both the seat and the individuals in the seat would need to be held in place by the seat anchor points. Not a good idea. These kinds of loads can be very large and far beyond the design limitations of the original seat mounting points. If anything new bracketry should include fixture points into the seat belt mounting points in the floor...all or most of them.

Just for clarity so that you don't think I am trying to be a know it all, I am an Engineering Technologist that works for an RV manufacturer and one of my areas of responsibility is working with seat/seatbelt suppliers on just these kinds of applications. I only provide my opinions here as you and your loved ones could be at significant risk of injury or death in an accident if serious engineering type consideration is not given to the types of modifications you make to your seating and seat belts.

Hey I appreciate the advice. Whenever I need advice on truck matters, this is where I go!!

I will make sure that they are secure when I Install them, and knowing now about the integrated belts, I will make sure it is done right!

Thanks
