73 C10 big block frame mounts

Hi Guys.
Im after BIG BLOCK CHEV frame mounts and clam shells for a 73 C10, truck is currently a small block truck but doesn't seem anyone is reproducing BBC frame mounts for 73 onwards, plenty for anything upto 1972 but what about 73 trucks, other than scouring ebay etc does anyone have any or know where they can be purchased.
Cheers guys.

You need 1/2 ton frame mounts and use the big block clams and clam shells. The mounts have several different holes to accept big block or small block clams.

Thanks for the response but is there anyone you know doing reproduction of these items, seems plenty for earlier trucks just not for 73 onwards.
Cheers.

Re: 73 C10 big block frame mounts

There are no repops that I know about. Getting an original 1/2 ton big block setup is hard to find. You can start by getting 1/2 ton frame mounts. You might be able to find new big block motor mounts. They should be the same for 1/2 and 3/4 ton. The clam shells all bolt up to all of the engines, but there are different profiles on the distance of the long bolt from the base of the clam shell.

The frame side brackets are the same for the SB and BB. Part numbers are the same for C/10's which is 464709 for the LH. and 464710 for the RH.

Appreciate your response, so frame mounts are the same for BBC and SBC, don't mean to doubt you but are you 100% sure about that ?, that's gonna make the process a lot easier for me.
Just means I have to find clam shells if that's correct.
Cheers

100% sure. 20+ years with GM dealers starting in 79 and I confirmed it last night in my GM 73-78 parts catalog. As long as you are comparing C10 to C10. C20's and C30's use a different number which are also the same for SB and BB. K series use another number but since the 454 was not offered in a K10 there is no comparison.

Re: 73 C10 big block frame mounts

I used 1/2 ton small block mounts to put a 454 in my 82 K-10.
They will work but the big block fuel pump hits the crossmember. So,I used a shorter fuel pump from a 60's Chevy big block engine. It works but has no return line.
The big block clam shells are about 3/8"+/- higher than the small block shells.
I have the correct pieces but haven't put them in yet.
The big block shells are easy to find in old motorhomes.
Mike.

Really appreciate your input regards the frame mounts, good to know I can use my existing frame mounts.

Could I trouble you to let me know what the part number is for the Big Block Clam shell in your parts catalogue to suit 73-74 C10, might be easier to source having a part/no.
Thanks again
Mick

Re: 73 C10 big block frame mounts

It's been ten years or so but I am pretty sure that I just used the small block mounts to install my 454 in a 75 c10.

Re: 73 C10 big block frame mounts

Are you talking about the brackets from the subframe to the top of the frame? I used everything from a c10 on my 2wd conversion and my big block engine mounts bolted right in with no issues.

Re: 73 C10 big block frame mounts

The I6 frame mounts are the same as V8.
It is correct. You need the taller profile clam shells for big block 4wd applications for the fuel pump to clear. The 2wd big block clam shells have a shorter profile than the 4wd.

Thanks Ray, that simple explanation cleared up a lot of the confusion I was getting from the rest of this thread. Hopefully it helps other people make some sense of it too.
