nv4500/205 shifter

I am in the middle of a nv4500 swap in my 1988 crewcab. It has a 205 transfer case. I am trying to find the best way to shift the transfer case. any ideas ?

Re: nv4500/205 shifter

I really like the ORD twin stick set up I used for my NV4500 swap. They do not list the NV4500/205 shifter assembly on their website but they can make you one if you call them. Advance Adapters also makes a bracket that bolts to the transmission cover where you can use the original 205 shifter but it is really flimsy. I don’t recommend theirs. They're also some cable shifters out there for 205's but they are pricy, not sure who makes them though but the rock crawler types seem to like them.

ORD Twin stick

This was during mock up only and not the final assembly. I used heim joint on both shifter rails when it was all said and done.

This is the Advance Adapters NV4500/205 shifter bracket. It is horribly flimsy but could probably be reinforced to make it more solid if you really wanted to keep the original shifter. I took one look at this POS and ordered the ORD twin stick instead.

Could always have someone weld a bung on the 4500 adapter and then just use the factory shifter.

Re: nv4500/205 shifter

Well I just ordered the advanced adapters bracket. I called them and they told me that they addressed the flimsy bracket issue by using thicker steel and a gusset. they also said because I am using the spacer between the trans and case that I need to lengthen the shifter rod on the transfer case to use the bracket.
