Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

But it does make finding a set of nice OEM doors a PAI if you want your car to mach. 67's had wing windows and the top of the door on the inside formed a rolled metal edge. 67 had not wing windows and the door panel rolled over top of the door, so it's just a jagged looking edge under the panel, and 69's had a different skin on them.

I completely lucked out on a set of rust free 67 doors for my 67 firebird at a swap meet. Haven't seen another pair anywhere near as nice since.

Here is my sister and brother in law's place up in Maine. Hundreds of acres of hardwood forest to supply the heat in the outside wood furnace heat piped into the slab. Opens a door into the always warm shop all winter. 2 story place on the end with screened in summer kitchen/dining room. The cabin is at camp down on Lake Sebago

Weird how so much stuff here on the board reminds me of things Ive long forgotten about. We used to go flat track racing when I was a kid, so much fun, I wonder if they still have it here? I'm going to have to go look it up, maybe take the grand kids. My grandson is already asking if we get to go to the drag races again. He really likes the long ones lol. He's 5

Re: Mid-life man thing

Check out AMA for the schedule. This one, The Barbara Fritchey Classic, is the longest continuous running race in America but a small purse with no big shots. It's like a best kept secret for me right up at the local fairgrounds. The only rce run there. They just train trotters and have stables in the back of the grounds...where I took the pictures. Grabdstands or back the truck up to the fence for a shower of cinders. We set up a grille and make a great day of it...4th of July! And that's whatever day of the week it falls on, not this shift it around crap. They do a vintage bike exposition race as well

Neat Harley. I have no plans on ever getting back in to Harleys (or any bikes) if I did I would love something vintage for putting around on nice days.

There has been a good looking old shovelhead in the local paper for a couple of months now.

So far I have exercised self control.

Re: Mid-life man thing

Not a mid life, have had the GTO since 1989. 1978 Cutlass was mine my senior year in high school, sold it in the fall of 89 to buy the GTO for $1500.00. Four years ago owner of the Cutlass shows up at my house and asks if I want it back, I said how much and says we are moving and to come and get it. Car sat for 14 years with mice living in it, so now it is a drag car, 6 point roll bar, 9" Ford with a spool and 3.50 gears, 455 Pontiac and turbo 350. Has run a best of 11.46 e.t. at 117 mph.

That you sitting on the PainHead Tim? Beautiful soot there. Your EVO is pretty sweet as well. Funny how I didn't like the EVO much until the Twinkie came out. Now Im looking at the EVO more and more these days.

No, that's a friend from the my vintage bike buddies crowd. My Evo is all I have now. They caused a stir with the old bikers when they came out and drew so many new people into the Harley thing. I used to catch crap. I had a guy all tattooed all up and down giving me crap at a bar one night.

Him: Evos are for doctors and lawyers.

Me: Not all bikers from the '70s are burnouts. Some are doctors and lawyers now.

Him: Hey. What are you trying to say?

Me: What part do you need explained?

Evos get no respect... yet. They go for cheap, not old enough to be old and those who want newer, or can't handle a tool, go with Twin Cam. I rarely see another Evo out there. It's funny because my bike is 28 years old and that is a long life for a motorcycle. Many techno advances behind, still no 'puter, carb, manual turn signals... My bike is as old as a '62 Dou-Glide was when it was new and that would have been a go ga-ga over it collector's item back then. Back in '90 when it was new, I would have been thrilled to meet a guy with a '62 he had since new and had all the stories to go with it. Mine has many tales to tell and lots of history. It took me and my bride on our honeymoon through the Blue Ridges and Smokies. Damn good bike. Outlasted my wife! We've both been through them changes

Re: Mid-life man thing

That's it. Or, maybe Evo's are the Vortec and Shovels were the small block. The motor truly was an evolution of the Shovelhead. Or that's how I see them. But they got it right with the Evo, just like the SBC. They didn't move away from them for any design flaw or limitations. It was time to take a new step into technology for the changing market, both buyers and the competition.
