Re: What does this wire go to??

I think that wire should go back to the cab, can't remember if it goes to the ignition switch directly or to the fuse block. In mine, there was a brown wire where the regulator was mounted on the radiator support that I mated this to. It went back to the cab.I think I have a picture of mine I can dig up if you need it.

If you have the original wiring for the alt. on the drivers side, it should be spliced into the brown wire in that loom. Comes from the ignition to excite the voltage regulator when starting up.

Re: What does this wire go to??

Look at this schematic on the bottom picture, it shows how to convert an externally regulated charging system (stock system) to an internally regulated system which is what you have, if you follow that connector on on position 1 on the alternator it ties into the brown wire, that wire routs to the harness connector on the firewall on the driver side. The brown wire on your truck may be routed across the top of the firewall to the passenger side of the engine. Humm maybe it got painted black?? LOL!.
