Radiator heater hose fitting

Hello, working on 75 blazer, dont think radiator is stock, on passenger side from top down it has filler neck and cap, then overflow hose, then a heater hose fitting, the fitting appears to be plastic and screw into radiator then hose clamps on that, the plastic fitting is leaking, im hopping I can get a new fitting, not a new radiator, anybody seen this, i asked at oriellys and two shops, they didn't know, they didn't seem to sharp though. Below those three things are two transmission cooler lines, and then the main radiator hose!

I would clean the area(sanding) around the fitting, look for cracks. Take out the fitting and check the threads, reinstall with a brass fitting of the correct size and thread sealer(perm a tex), then make sure the hose is supported in some fashion

If it is cracked, time for a radiator shop, or try to soldier it yourself, but I suspect the plastic threads gave out

Thank you, the fitting itself is cracking between threads and where the hose clamps on, where would I get a fitting this size? This seems like a common part but nobody seems to know about it.

You could start at Jeg's, pretty common fitting in NPT with barbed end. about 28 pages of fittings

what size is it? I have extras laying around

Dont know, thought it might break if I took it off, since it's a very slow leak I thought I would wait till I found a part before taking it out, since you seen to think I'll be able to get one I'll take it out and measure it! What is it called at jegs?

Awesome, thanks, I'll pull the part and measure, I know the hose end is for 5/8 inch hose, just gotta measure the thread end, from looking at jegs, 1/2 is most common, so I'm guessing that!

BTW, buy yourself a thread gauge, it will tell you how many threads per inch.

also try to buy a brass fitting, incase you have to solder the fitting to the tank.

Is your radiator brass?

p/n 984010 is earls in aluminum, but there are angled ones that may help for hose placement

Thanks, maybe it is brass, its just a basic radiator, id eventually like to go aluminiun. Im supposed to be learning all this but life keeps getting in the way

Life always gets in the way, I'm laid up with muscle spasms right now or I'd be working on my truck...1 hour heating pad and 1 hour of ice bag plus pain meds

Home Depot, Lowes, whatever tend to carry brass barb fitting. They usually even have things there to help find the thread. You want your barb size to be 5/8", you can use the display to find your thread. Go for brass rather than plastic.

Nice rig. I had a 71 c30 longhorn with a 402 TH400. Single rear. Had a big camper like yours an pulled my boat withit at the same time. Had a step bumper with 2X2" square tube so I could extend the bumper beyond the camper. In a moment of stupidity, I sold it years ago.

Well, it seems we humans get bored with stuff fir sure! I took this apart, its in the yard disintegrating until i freakout and cant believe i did that, then FIX IT UP AGAIN! It needs a more powerful motor! For SAFETY reasons of course!

Thanks, the c20 longhorn handles the weight fine, the 350 motor complains the whole time But made it to the desert and back a few times, SO VINTAGE ITS FUN, camper is a 1971 vista Liner!
