WTB 68-72 Eaton 3/4 ton rear carrier 4.10

Wanted to buy, an Eaton 4.1 0 rear carrier from a 1968-72 Chevy 3/4 ton 8 lug rear axle. Rear carrier is all I need with the 4.10. I believe it be the ho52 or ho72. I'm replacing the 5.14 rear carrier assembly in a 1952 3/4 ton Chevy truck. The Eaton 4.10 is a direct bolt in for the 52 3/4 ton I am working on. Open driveline.

E-mail me at martainnlenhardt@hotmail.com Reasonable price is appreciated. thanks in advance for your interest and help. martainn

I have this complete rear end out of a 1968 Chevy C20 with a 4:10 ratio on the option tag. Is this the correct rear end? Let me know, Thanks

That is the correct rear.....I wish you were closer, just checked 11hours away one way. Would you consider shipping the carrier? If so, I have a Garyhound station that is close by. Also, what would you charge for the carrier? Thanks

Distance always seems to be a problem. I would conside shipping and I do have a Grayhound about 20 miles away. Are you wanting the whole hogs head or just the part inside that the ring gear attaches to?? Let me know.

Re: WTB 68-72 Eaton 3/4 ton rear carrier 4.10

Looks like an HO72, and I believe it should weight around 120-135 pounds, which I believe is more than greyhound allows (I think it's 100 pounds). I just looked for my HO72 5.13 posi, and it was 135 pounds. I believe that you can ship with UPS up to 150 pounds, so you could try that, but a wooden box would probably be best.

JimmyFloyd: What is the difference between a HO72 and a HO52?? Are you saying just the hogs head weighs 135 lbs or the whole diff.??

The both fit the same housing, so they are interchangable as far as the whole hogs head. If you look to the right of where the driveshaft connects, there is a bolt facing the right, and I am told that's how you can tell it's a HO72.

And it would be the whole hogs head. This is the part I wight for mine, which is a No Spin, and it weight about 135 pounds

And for a lot of info on the Eaton, you can check out this thread: http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=771317

Hey Martainn this is Jason I was talking to you last night about swapping a 4.10 3rd for that 5.14 one. I'm working on getting that center section to you, but if you end up finding another one closer then I will still buy that 3rd with 5.14's off of you.

Thanks,

Jason.

That is awesome- please check the ratio. I got excited when I saw you were in Indiana as most parts seem to always be several states away.

And thanks to Ray also - will be in touch

It is a complete axle to axle rear end but I sould be able to pull the cover off tomorrow night after work and I can let you know. I know when I shipped the one in this ad, the shipping alone was $125.00. If it works out and you are not in a hurry then I should be able to bring it up in September. I am 280 miles from Dowagiac.

Smile Re: WTB 68-72 Eaton 3/4 ton rear carrier 4.10

I am hoping it is at least a 4:10 as mine is a 4:57 original gear. The old 6 banger is really wailing at 50 mph, plus the granny in the 4 spd is useless. I have been told that the carrier in the 67-72 3/4 ton is an exact replacement for the one in my 54 chevy 3600 - do you agree?

Our shop is in Niles near 12 and M60 - right on your way to Dowagiac if you are coming from the south and taking 31, then 51 out of Niles to Dowagiac. But I could meet you anywhere in the area as I go through Dowagiac all the time.

I also am going to Batesville, IN in October for my daughter's wedding.

Thanks,

Wayne

When I get it checked I will start a new tread for it and give you a link. I do not know a lot about these but I know the guy that bought the other one put it in a 1952 3/4 ton. You might want to check the threads or start a thread in the 48-59 truck section to verify. Maybe 52 builder will jump in and be able to answer your question also.

I live on the IL side of the state and we come up and jump on I65 north then take I94 into MI, jump off at St. Joseph and cut across. I am sure we can work something out and depending on time schedule we might be able to change our route. We can work on details after I verify mine is what you want.

Thanks, Todd

Sorry Wayne but the numbers on the ring gear is showing 7-32 which is a 4.56 gear. If I come across another one I will keep you in mind.
Thanks, Todd

Re: WTB 68-72 Eaton 3/4 ton rear carrier 4.10

Thanks Ray,

I am new to the site and it is a little confusing to navigate.

I have been told that these things are pretty much bullet proof so I assume good condition?

Will it fit in my 1954 Chevy 3600 which now has the factory 4:57 rear?

How much with shipping to 46545 - Mishawaka, IN (my office, a business)?

Thanks,

Wayne
