Thumbs up Who has 2.5 drop spindles with cut coils?

How many of you are running this combo? Does it ride/work out good? About how much does it lower it?
Pics would be great.

I haven't done this but, I would imagine that it would be a 5.5 drop up front. You're going to run into some problems if you run very much tire. I've got 2.5" spindles and 1.5" springs in the front of mine, IMO I don't think it would be very smart to run lower than 4" with a static drop.

I've got 2.5 spindles + 1 coil cut from the stock 68 6cyl front springs which is approx 5-6" of drop. I run 15x6.5's (5 lug van Ralleys) w/a 215/75/15 (27.5")General tire. I only buzz the tops of the wheelwells on larger dips in the road @ speed..... other than that, no probs.

Hmm. At first I was thinking I would get drop spindles and 2" drop springs up front, then I considered this cuz it was cheaper. Ill be running 17'wheels too, so maybe I should stick with the spindles and 2" drop springs?

I have that combo. Pictured here with 235/60/15's. Had 275/60/15's orginally (what was on all four), but they rubbed when backing out of the driveway and on any significant bumps. So I bought these used T/A's just for a short term fix. I am going to put 245's on there soon. I'd imagine that it might be tight fit w/ 17's.

Also, remember that the alignment wil make a difference once the caster/camber shims are adjusted as they should be.

I ran a Belltech 3 inch drop (73-87) spindle, with a 2 inch drop spring on a 67-72. Works great. You just have to keep the wheel and tire size inside the fender, and watch your tire height. I ran 7 inch ralleys with a 215/70/15's. Just like SCOTI said, you will hit the inner fender on the hard bumps only.

Yes, I forgot to add that the backspacing of the wheels should be an important part of your calculations. My truck has 15x8's with short backspacing, pushing them outward, too much. When my tires rubbed (the 275's) it was only the very edge of the tire, at the very edge of the fender. When I had some of the shims removed for proper adjustment, the rubbing stopped. I intend to still get some wheels with more backspacing to do as lolife99 has said, make sure the wheels/tires are inside the fender.

Yes offset is very important. The stock van ralleys keep the tires tucked in as far as possible & the main reason mine don't rub. On my 74 w/a similar front set-up, the front wheels are 18x8" wide & do in fact rub more than my 68.
