4L80e shifting trouble

I am putting a 4L80e behind a 5.3 and it is not shifting right.
I have a PSI harness with the right connectors for the trans.
My tuner is using hptuners
We can manually toogle the shift solenoids with a scanner, but the ecm will not activate the solenoids.
Can we reflash the 5.3 ecm to work with the 4L80e somehow?

Re: 4L80e shifting trouble

I've used a 4L80E behind a 5.3 and it worked just fine. I did a segment swap to use the transmission calibration from a truck with an 80E. Using the 5.3 ECM shouldn't be a problem (since they are all pretty much the same ECM)

Define segment swap.

(with the engine calibration from a 5.3)
I would hope your tuner knows what a segment swap is and how to do one. If not, i'd find another "tuner"...

Re: 4L80e shifting trouble

Agreed, have him check the tune, almost sounds like its got the 60e or manual trans setup in the ecm.

....And like he said, if the tuner doesn't know what you mean, run.

Re: 4L80e shifting trouble

Can you do a segment swap with HPTuners now? Used to be you had to use EFI live or Tunercat to do that as I recalll.
