In Maryland the day your insurance lapses, if you don't turn in the tag, it's a $150 fine for the first 30 days, then $7 every day after that. You have to pay the total before registering that vehicle again.

Well at least tags in AR arent' much (for now anyway).

We have a bunch of older vehicles. Tags, insurance, and property taxes cost more than we spent on fuel for most of them in any given year.

So if you were to do a frame off restoration on a vehicle they would now expect you to have it tagged and insured during that time?

Government has gone nuts. Full on freaking nuts.

If you turn in the license plates to the state gubmint do you have to pay penalties on it to put it back in service?
