NP203 Mounting Question

Does the 203 mount the same as a 205? Basically are the interchangeable on the cross member and frame mount?

Re: NP203 Mounting Question

I'd say no. The 203 is much longer as well.

Re: NP203 Mounting Question

There is an adapter that connects the transmission to the transfer case. It's this adapter (not the transmission or transfer case itself) that mounts to the crossmember.

There are multiple different adapters for various transmission & transfer case combinations. I don't know for sure, but I think most all of the adapters for a given transmission will allow the crossmember to stay in the same location.

The transfer case hangs off the back of the adapter so it's length shouldn't change the crossmember position. But it will change the required driveshaft lengths.

Re: NP203 Mounting Question

The NP203 was only used on the 73'-79' trucks therefore the crossmembers were all the same between manual/automatic/np203/np205 foot style mount except the 1 ton 77'-79' model had a flatter member that did not drop down the 2" needed because of the wider frame.
