mmw controls on thorbros crossmember

I'm wondering if there is suppose to be a gap like this....these control arms came off a c10 with a stock crossmember...so I figured they would work or was I wrong?

Re: mmw controls on thorbros crossmember

does the radius on the blocks match the shafts? if it does then the gap is just cosmetic.

Have you got the locating pins lined up correctly? Do the pins fit in the holes?

Re: mmw controls on thorbros crossmember

there is only one locating pin on each side of the crossmember.....I cant get the cross shaft down all the way on too the pin like the shaft is to big or the paint is thick....

Re: mmw controls on thorbros crossmember

I would talk to thorbros and ask if the crossmember you got takes stock control arms or theirs only. And try talking to mmw and see if his will work on a thorbros crossmember.I have never seen a bad part for either of them yet so i can't point the finger at one of them lol.

This happens some times when you mix and match stuff. Need to be able to take good measurements to see what is up. Time to go to harbor freight and get a set of calipers.

Re: mmw controls on thorbros crossmember

I talked to mmw an they said they dont look like a set they have ever made.....which is bs cause the guy i got them from thats where he got them.....mmw has a set for the p47 crossmember that will work so i asked if i could buy a set of lowers only an they said no you have to buy uppers for them to work so then i asked if i could buy just the cross shafts for my lowers they said no dont think they will work.....i have a set of stock arms so i bolted one up after i did this one an it fits a lil better but there is still a gap just not as much....i posted on fb group an a guy posted a pic of his p47 crossmember with a set of mmw arms an there was almost no gap so idk what the deal is

Re: mmw controls on thorbros crossmember

Well I would believe MMW saying they are not theirs over a previous owner. They should know if they made them. There was another company out there doing them at one time call Barley Legal. They could have come from them. You just never know if the are not in the original boxes or stamped with a name. Post some pictures and that will help. You will never get rid of 100% of the gap since the gap is what allows it to pull tight. A set a calipers will tell you if it just has to much paint or powder coat on it. On a fit like that the parts should be bare metal.

Re: mmw controls on thorbros crossmember

Well being flat plate anyone could copy his design and try to pass them off as MMW and there use to be another company named BLF flat plate.I would trust MMW when he says they are not his,The guy you got them from could have been mistaken or lied to himself when he bought them.
