Wrong timing indicator tab / Saginaw o-ring to flare conversion

Does anyone know if someone makes a bolt on tab that goes on at the 12:00 position instead of the 2:00 position?

I couldn't figure out why the heck I had to advance my engine so much for it to start, then I realized that I had changed my balancer. So I took the dizzy cap off, set the to where the distributer needed to be set for the engine to run, and sure enough, my timing mark was at about 12:00 instead of within the range of my balancer.

I have to take my waterpump off to replace it with a standard rotation pump (going back to v-belt) anyways, so now would be the time to fix that.

My other question is with regards to my hydroboost setup. My power steering box is set up for a flare fitting, but my hydroboost is for the saginaw o-ring fitting. Does anyone make a relatively in-expensive conversion peice?

Thanks!

Russ

Re: Wrong timing indicator tab

Hi Russell...You can mask and paint a new TDC line on the balancer. One of the chevelle resto. parts places sells the 12:00 timing tabs, Original Parts Group, Inc. (OPGI) (i think) in the US. I brazed (jury rigged) an o-ring end to a '72 pressure line so I could use a '81 steering gear. I used a piece of thinwall steel pipe that fit the OD of the steering line and made a kind of splice, for strength, then brazed with brass rod.

Re: Wrong timing indicator tab

It was an 8" balancer.

I replaced it with a 7" Balancer from my 89's 73 block, along with it's indicator tab. The 89's engine is coming out next week, so I am not too concerned about pulling parts from it
