Anyone here with a good knowledge of original paint that could check out a truck for me? It's a very low mile '72 that's claimed to have original paint.

Here's the ad. It's over priced, and has terrible wheels on it. But it's supposed to be low mikes and all original. The pics look really convincing. I'm only interested if it's 100% original paint

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. All the pictures looks good, and I can believe it's factory paint. Except this, it's the aftermarket saddle tanks. They should not be painted orange. Unless for some strange reason they painted them before they installed them. This I the first clue to a repainted on any trucks I have ever looked at. But he says different.

ok I'll try to contact you while I'm there if I have any concerns about something. I'm not a expert by any means on original trucks but I should be able to tell a repaint That sure looks like a tape line on that tank to me

Oh yes, the tanks have been painted and that's a paint line. That's what worries me. Also could take pictures of anything that looks wrong? The guy keeps the truck in a storage building I think. I'll text him tomorrow and let him know you might look at it for me. Thanks again for the help

Joe, that is a nice one...Highlander? One thing I noticed is the lack of full gauges, especially since it's a big block truck....feel free to correct me because you've had many more than me.

Looks like the tailgate straps and side latches have orange paint on them? (See the pic with the tailgate down)

It is a highlander truck. As for gauges, it was just an option. It is a bit odd that it wasn't ordered with them though.

Sweet truck! I've never seen a highlander without lower trim, does the SPID just reference the plaid seat and not the promo package?

I have seen them without lower molding. It's a totally correct "package C" highlander

Real nice truck, it looks to me like the seat has been recovered. Plaid pattern does not align top to bottom. Just an observation.

You should be able to talk him down.

Bad points:

1). Fleetside
2). Automatic
3). V8

Nobody wants those features. LOL (OK, I am done being silly). I would be cautious too, I doubt there are that many "original paint" anythings left and geeze, every truck must have originally been sold in California!

Pretty neat about the saddle tanks, I always wondered where exactly those went and where the fill spouts were.

Interesting on the saddle tanks. I have a set like those in my 67 parts truck. I just assumed it was a factory option or dealer add on, not an aftermarket thing
