Squarebody digital sensing speedo?

Whats everybody here doing for a electronic speedometer if one converts to a modern engine say an LS?

Please DO NOT reply Dakota Digital, or other AFTERMARKET OPTIONS, i really love the design of the stock gauge set up, I have zero interest in switching to aftermarket.

I know you can get an old cluster out of a 1990-1992 Suburban, that is electronic speedo, but is anybody making new printed circuit sheets for those?

I've seen these boxes used to drive a stock mechanical speedos off a VSS.

Dakota Digital. They have a classic series that look just like the original. Best upgrade you'll ever do. Except maybe Vintage Air.

That looks like an option.

Thanks!

Re: Squarebody digital sensing speedo?

No separate printed circuit for the 90-92 electric suburban clusters. They were made as one part number - meaning back in the day, the whole thing was replaced as a unit. Not rebuilt.
Getting a cluster is expensive. Getting the speedo out without damaging the circuit board plug is nearly impossible.
Once I got mine apart, it was cleaning and painting. I got a new lens (which is available in the LMC catalog for suburbans) to finish it off. Then had to re-pin the plug and bolt up. Not sure if a stock LS PCM is set up for the right signal form the factory. Ask that mine was changed to match the electric Speedo cluster when I sent it out to have the VAT removed.

Re: Squarebody digital sensing speedo?

What transmission are you using?
Do you have 4wd?

If you have 4wd you can use a VSS generator inline with the cable from the squarebody transfer case and keep your original speedometer.

2wd with the LS transmission requires a box to feed the speedo or a 1990-92 Suburban or K5 cluster.
