1970 SUb Found should I purchase?

I found this ....

Now wondering if I should pick it up. I have no time and too many projects already. Taking to cars to the junkyard this weekend.

How hard is it to put all the glass back in, assuming I could find it.

Decisions, Decisions....The price is right at under a grand, too. No engine No transmission, and no Glass. I mean how did they break it all out except for the two small back door windows.?

I would pass on this one as well. The glass will be hard to find and when you do find it, will be very expensive as well as the rubber gaskets to go around the glass. If it had the motor/tranny for under a grand though, I would consider it.

Thanks for all the imput guys. I talked him down to 600 bucks but told him Id have to get back to him after I chedked a few things out, like glass. I may just throw 400 at him and see what he does when I walk away..

Re: 1970 SUb Found should I purchase?

I would definitely pass at $600. That's a TON of work just to get it so you can leave it outside, let alone drive it.
$150 maybe, and that's if you REALLY want it...as a parts truck anyway.
No engine, transmission, glass, headlights, taillights. Horrible tailgate too.

Look at it this way - when you do find all the glass you need, chances are it will already be installed in a Suburban that's a MUCH better deal then the one you are looking at right now.

I know the windshield alone will be $170 because I need one too! The gaskets for all the windows will be over $400. These prices are from LMC.

funny you said this. I already know of the suburban i should buy... Its the entry price that is a bit hard to swallow. But vs all the work and effort I would perhaps come off better by biting the bullet.

thanks for your honest opinion. Saved me the trip to pick it up and the cash.

Re: 1970 SUb Found should I purchase?

I would have offered $400, but that's cause I am up north, and I see a nearly rust free body, and I have a suburban in the yard with all the parts on it still.

Re: 1970 SUb Found should I purchase?

I see that everyone is telling you not to buy it but I have a little different opinion. I see money to be made. As the owner of a sub, I know how hard it is to find parts for it. You would have doors, complete front clip, clam shell hatch, interior parts? (not shown in pict though and appears to be a custom deluxe), steering (probably power steering)and suspension parts (still should be six lug but the right width), upper and lower trim molding and the list goes on and on. You could easlily get your money back and more. The question or problem may be do you have room to part it out. The extra money could go toward some current project. Again as a sub owner, it is a gold mine for parts and most will parts fit trucks as well! It appears to be relatively rust free!

Re: 1970 SUb Found should I purchase?

All Good Points 69NOVA.

Here are some other photos I reduced in size tonight.

Still thinking

It is hard to se but at the bottom of the passenger side doors it has been drilled and pulled, lke someting drug down side of the vehicle.

just in front of the rear bumper thre is a hole on the drivers side and the rockers need work but you are right this is a one of the best bodies On a sub I have seen.

Parts alone it could get the full asknig price plus.

One thing I have is a GOld 68 front clip that I can drop right on this truck if I wanted to...

For a body in that good a shape I would gladly pay $600 and then just transfer the power train and glass off the burb I've already got onto it!!!
So yes, get it! Save it!!
