2002 Surburban "service 4wd". Sometimes.

So my burb will randomly tell me to service the 4wd system. Usually when it does this the 4wd buttons stop working and I'm stuck in whatever was selected. I'd say 30% of the time the "auto 4wd" button will still work so I'm not stuck one way or the other lol.
A lot of the time a simple turning the truck off and on will fix the issue as well. Could it be the button panel going out or is it something else that's common?

Replacing the switch panel resolved same issue in my '01.

New switch and cleaning the ground at the frame below the drivers door.
