Steering coupler question

Has anyone replaced this steering coupler? The one I have was damaged. I talked to a few online suppliers and they suggested a universal joint since they don't carry a replacement. Sounds like it would work. Any draw backs to that?

Yep, just did that. I called up Borgeson and got a u-joint on the column which I connected to their "cut to fit" telescopic double D shaft and went with a vibration reducing u-joint on the steering box.

Yeah, just give the tech support guy a call, he will help you with part numbers needed, and then you can simply shop for your best deal. I used Jegs myslef.

Cpp can make any combination rag joint you need

I'd guess a collapsible one from a later (67-~76) truck would bolt in. I think the input to the steering bo diameter changed in the late 70s.

Mine came from a junk yard but you won't find a new one there. I don't know if that part ever wears out though. The whole inner shaft assy that I took from a 67 was the same length as the 66.
