Don't let the name scare you. It's just a nice satin black.

Eric can speak to the material choice (handling etc.) as he decides the paint...I'm just looking for a factory effect...and I like it for that reason.

Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you for the info... I appreciate it!!

Do you know... was it sprayed as is, or was a flattening additive added to achieve the desired look?

Thanks again!

I'm wondering too. The link said the paint was a high gloss, but IronCanine stated it was satin. I think satin would be correct. Maybe wrong link....

The link Iron Canine posted is right. The can will have HOT ROD BLACK on it. It is sold in other colors and they do offer a flattening additive (which I did not use) to use in the other colors. We purchased it from Advanced Auto.

It mixes 4 parts #1401 Hot Rod Black, 1 part #1070 reducer, and 1 part #1020 catalyst. No flattening additive used.

I like it because it yields the same results every time. I painted my son's '70 pick up in pieces and all panels had the same sheen.

Thank you for the additional information. I plan to use this product on my truck in the coming weeks.

Beautiful build Brad, and thanks for taking the time to document it in such detail - what a great thread.

As for that Discovery Channel gig, I'm not sure I'd last very long in show business...

Thanks for the kind words...but I must disagree about the show business. You've already got a built in audience here. Hell, I'm subscribed to most of your threads right now. You get a YouTube channel...get in the weeds on the finer points of these trucks, and my friend we are there. I'm actually surprised a channel like that doesn't already exist.

I just noticed this observation, and did not know that. I bought Mar-K for mine, but I think I still have some NOS in the rafters, so I guess I better dig it out.

Thanks for pointing It out.

You'll see it when you put them side by side. The trailing edge of the fender spear is different. All the other pieces appeared to me to match up well with OE.

Don’t make the mistake of placing the LH lower door trim on the RH door and vice versa - it can be done, I know this to be true

Also, the clips with the double sided tape that hold the lower trim on have a top and bottom.

Good to know. I’ve used the pre-71 metal clips on the k20 and blazer as the repro plastic clips seemed to stand off from the sheet metal revealing day light.

Hate to clutter this build thread but for interested minds here’s the effect of flip flopped trim (since corrected)...

Real sunshine for the first time in what seemed like forever. A lot of folks with cabin fever showed up at the first cruise in of the year at The Varsity. It was exciting to show her for the first time...and be outside and dry!

I finally got the A/C charged after a bit of an odyssey a couple of weeks ago. Took it initially several months ago, held a vacuum, but POA valve was stuck (had been rebuilt and plated). Removed POA, rebuilt again, re-plated again, re-installed and finally charged and blowing cold.

Well...most of her engine run time has been with the gear shift on "P". And she gets wiped down more than a truck should. But you are always kind-thanks.

Hey, here's a fun game I'll call, "What's On The Ground?"
