71 lowered

I am about to get started on my 71 C10. I want to lower it to just above the tires. Plan on running 15' wheels. I do not want to notch the frame. How low can I go? After some research I'm thinking 2 1/2' spindle drop and 5' coil on the rear ??

You will be fine, it may bump if you go over a speed bump hard or if you hit a hard bump in the road.

Re: 71 lowered

i did my shortbed with 2 1/2 Spindles and 5" coils. If I do it again I would research it a little more. Because the 5" dropped coils won't tolerate very much weight of any kind! Just my experience. Maybe a black and 3 or 4" coils? It does sit nice though.

4” rear coil is definitely the magic number. I put a 3” and theres still gap between the tire and fender

Re: 71 lowered

Just crazy what four wheels and a bit of stance can do to the look of a vehicle. Sometimes like a completely different truck.

Talking Re: 71 lowered

My 71 I lowered it 30 years ago with coils all around plus I have bags inside each one now also. No scrubbing at all.
Over the course of 30 years I have gone form 15" ralley wheels to 17" and now 20" wheels.

It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: 71 lowered

Like slowguy said, amazing how just a wheel change makes a huge difference. Andy's truck looks good with all wheels, and was in at the time.
