Ok family here is my problem I'm putting together my 89 bur and I have 22's on it I love the ride height and don't want to change it much. So I am looking for the right set of air shocks to install on the rear-end to assist with this that wont break me. and I would like to find some with a compressor Anyone got any Ideas on which setup I should go with????

I'd use the Firestone air bags before I installed an air shock. Shock mounts are not intended to support vehicle weight

kwmech is 100% correct!!

You get you "height" from springs, you get your "ride" from shocks.

There has been many a vintage car tat ended up with shocks in the trunk when the mounts broke loose and they came up through the floor.

Enjoy,

Thanks for your input, I took a look at the Firestone kits and there not that bad. Anyone have photos of a setup that they have completed?

Re: Rear shocks help me please

If you search "bags" or bag on the site you will find dozens of threads and probably at least one in ten will be talking about helper bags like you need. In fact searching helper bags will probably find plenty of stuff for you to read up on, but not everybody uses the term "helper" in that application. You'll be an expert soon.

I actually really just wanted to say how cool of a color that Suburban is. I'm doing many things to deal with the color of mine because it's in good shape but not my first (or third) choice of a color. Some quality time with a light to medium compound will have your Suburban looking fantastic. Even that wrinkle in the quarter can probably be massaged to a minimum by paintless dent repair guy. Will you consider starting a build thread so we can see your progress?

The bags themselves, can't be sure about the brackets

Re: Rear shocks help me please

My plans are to get her repainted that color was not not my first choice. I left it with a guy here in NC to get painted and that's what I came back too. This was along time ago, but I plan on getting some paint on her next summer. I think I want to go back the factory light blue with a rhinoliner roof.
