Mismatched rear end, verify what I see please :)

Ok, so I literally read just about every thread on the different 12 bolt length and axle types, and I'm trying to figure out what is in my truck. My 12 bolt has a 69 date which is correct to my truck, 57" flange to flange, which is the shorter 12 bolt afaik, but it is a 5x5 lug pattern, and has the 71 style brake drums/system. What I believe I have is the longer axles in the shorter rear end, I notice that the brake pads are not even close to making full contact on the drums. Do you guys agree with my assumption that someone just threw in the longer axles to make it a 5 lug without regards to proper brake contact?

Thanks for the help.
