Rear wheel clearance?

My truck is done as far as I can go for now with the fleetside box still at the body shop and soon to be done. I've been shopping for rims/tires and I'm not ordering anything until I get the fleetside box installed and take some definite measurements. My rearend is also non stock being out of a squarebody so it's 3/4" wider each side. I'm wondering if 17 x 9 rims with 5" backspace will fit okay? Anyone running this width/backspace?

Re: Rear wheel clearance?

The rims I got are 17 x 8. Rear tires are 255-60-17. Damn iphone. not sure why it flips it upside down always. There is good clearance to the fender. I had to jack the back end by the frame to unspring the rear end in order to slip the wheels on. If anyone wants to flip it please do.

What exactly do you need to know ???

It looks like you already have the wheels & tires installed.

Re: Rear wheel clearance?

Very nice truck and your wheels look great. I've got 17x8 wheels also and I've measured a bunch of times trying to decide on tire size. How much drop do you have and what size are your front tires?

The rims are 4 1/2" backspace
Front tires are 235-60-17
Back tires are 255-60-17

With the square body rear end I have about an 1" clearance to the fender and I have to jack the truck up by the frame so the axle is at full droop in order to slip the tire/wheel on.

I have 2 1/2" drop spindles and coils are new heavy duty model springs. I may consider cutting some of the coil to lower the front some.

Rear coils are 97-06 Jeep springs.

Thanks, I've got 5" drop in the rear and 2 1/2" drop spindles and 1" coils in front. you're running close to the same size tires I have decided on. It's great to see a truck that close to what i have and it's an awsome truck at that.

Re: Rear wheel clearance?

Now that I've driven it a bit I'm not happy with my front springs. I got the heavier springs for a v8 truck with a/c. Rated at 3841 lbs. It's too stiff and you fill every ripple in the road. Standard springs are 3155 lbs and in 65 the lightest springs are 2406 lbs. Going to have to change them out. Anyone know what 1" drop springs are rated at? My front could come down a bit more.
