TV cable
Trying hook TV cable up to my truck. I have a 69 C/10 with a 292 and have removed the 350 trans and installed a 200-4R. It has the original carb that the 350 cable was hooked to, but the TV cable from the overdrive has a different end. Is there any way to mate the end of from the 350 to the 200? I know there has to be a few on this board who has run into this problem, how can this be done correctly? Do they make an adapter?

Re: TV cable
Go to “Bowtie Overdrive” a boat load of information and how to do it tips. As well as parts to get you there.

Re: TV cable
Update, talked with bow tie overdrives yesterday, even sent them pictures as per there request. Got an email back from them stating they could not help me as they had nothing for a 6 cyclinder. This kinda surprised me as I'm sure I'm not the only one who has installed a 200-4R or 700R4 behind a 250/292 engine. Has anyone else figured out a way to hook the TV cable up to these engines? Would appreciate any suggestions.

Re: TV cable
I ran into the same crap so I made my own tv cable bracket, or perhaps more accurately modified a purchased bracket. Bow-tie stated they would custom fab one for me if I sent them my carb along with a fair amount of my favorite dollars.
The most important part is to find a place to mount the pivot pin to the carb linkage to achieve the arc needed for proper travel (IIRC 78 degrees). I made a template and found there was an existing hole that was within a couple degrees of where I wanted to be when measured from the butterfly pin. Still needed to fabricate a mounting point to the carb base (I have a 4G) but it works quite well. I sourced many small items from a local small business that only does transmissions, the owner was quite helpful. Good luck, this project is possible with a little time and effort.

Re: TV cable
Not on a 200...but 700r4..behind a 350...I also made my own bracket, took a couple of tries for me to get it right, amazing the difference if the pivot is off 1/4".

Re: TV cable
Get it right because many have learned the hard way that the wrong set up and your transmission is toast within a very few miles...The cables for a 350 and a 200r4 are indeed two cables that look alike but do two different very important tasks...Good luck! PS. Excellent diagram Notsolo!

Re: TV cable
You might try looking around on the Stovebolt forum or over on HAMB. Lots of folks playing with sixes over there.
Good luck.

Re: TV cable
What a neat diagram. I guess I'm on the hunt. I believe I will start at the local boneyard and maybe get so idea's. I'm going to try and use the bracket that was used with the 350 trans, it will mount on the back of the block and give me something solid to start with.

Re: TV cable
The diagrams posted were those which I used to measure/fabricate everything I needed. IIRC there is a person on the west coast that has written much about the 200 4R and it’s use in racing, Carr was his last name I believe (don’t remember the first name). Good source for information, the diagrams probably came from there.
Search tv brackets specific to your carb manufacturer and model, many are commercially available. Look for a small locally owned trans shop for all the small stuff that will break your nuts. The hot rod web sites are also a good source as suggested, I found a lot of adaptable parts/suggestions there.
