Need some help with a 305 v6

I'm working on getting a 66 medium duty Gmc running. I'm not sure of the series of truck, but it has a 305 in it. I need to track down a good carb for it. What did they come with from the factory. The owner told me Someone at some point in time a long while ago rigged a two barrel from the junk yard on it. The original carb is long gone. I'm trying to get it running asap. If there's an aftermarket that will work than I'd look into that route as well.

They originally came with a Stromberg but most people prefer the Holley 2 barrel swap. Google it there is a bunch of good info on it.

Ok thanks guys, I'm sure the originals are hard to come by, I'll have to look into the Holley setup.

Re: Need some help with a 305 v6

I always liked Stromberg's and had good luck with them.

Loved the Manual Choke on them.

Some Carb vendors should have some if you wanted to go original.

The is one guy out there called Carb King that may have some.

Here is his contact info:

These guys are the experts:

Couple of ways to go. The Stromberg WW was a good carb. in it's day, but they are tough to find and kits are scare. Holley 500 cfm 2 bbl. works well with an adapter. Some have used the Rochester 2G with good results too.

The 500 cfm holley is an Upgrade over the stock ww. If you were to add an HEI it will also help increase performance. If your going to spend money, get the holley and an adapter.
