class 5 hitch

hello all,

I was going to upgrade my hitch on my v2500 to a class 5. I occasionally will need to tow a track loader. It and the trailer will weigh ~12k.

Is there any reason a hitch for a 1980s C/K3500 would not fit? How different are the frames? I am using k3500 springs on my v2500 and they were bolted right in.

Re: class 5 hitch

12k is a BIG load buddy .

rear end of the frame is basically the same on 1/2-1ton trucks . if suburban or blazer thats a whole different frame setup not the same end rail style .

yes you put bigger springs in your 3/4 ton but the frame is still 3/4 ton size .

also the brakes are prob a lot smaller over the 1ton rears and the front for sure are smaller .

last better check the local laws on towing limits and specific plate / insurance / even driver lic requirements the caps are starting to crack down all over on the little guys now .

also in the 12k range you would be much better off with a gooseneck trailer / hitch . spread the load out better and haul a lot nicer for you . no massive end of the frame tongue pressure killing the ride .
