Auto conversion - clutch block off and shifter - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I will be swapping my i6/3ott for a 5.3/4l60e combo. What is everyone doing to block off the hole for the clutch linkage? How about the auto shifter - better to source an auto column or do a shifter in the floor?

I am running the Lokar bench seat shifter in my 66 and it looks right at home in it. I cut out a piece of steel to fill the hole in mine and put it in with a couple of screws and seam sealer.

Yeah, I'd like to know if the 67-72 are the same. It's the same oval style. I guess it must be a different size.

I welded the linkage together so the shifter would no longer move back and forth, only up and down. Then I made up a rod and lever for the tranny end and just used the three speed column as an auto column with no indicator.
