Re: Lets see Ochre and White trucks

I think i am factory correct with the paint job. The bottom molding mounting holes where measured from factory specs. I need to get updated photos with moldings on to show the true look.help me out if i am mistaken.

Re: Lets see Ochre and White trucks

No need to apologize for not having white, your truck looks great the way it is and needs to be kept that way. If you need color use a period tonneau cover. A white one might be hard to find though. :-)

Ryan50 Is your truck a paint code 590? Been trying to find a documented non-special paint 71-72 pickup with the white rockers.
536 was the roof only and 463 was the white sides between the moldings and roof. If it is I'd like to see the SPID. For what it is worth I prefer the trucks without the upper molding. Lots of nice examples turned up in my thread on solid paint Cheyenne and CSTs.

Re: Lets see Ochre and White trucks

A question for fellow 71 owners. In looking at these photos of one of my favorite color combos, I noticed that DT1 and jjtackleberry's 71 trucks appear to have a black painted band that completely circles the perimeter of the polished grill shell. My 71 sales brochure seems to show the same thing, but I thought maybe it was shading in the pictures. The reason I ask is my 71 has traces of this paint around the grill shell but the grill has been painted too and I wasn't sure if the PO had painted the shell also. Most restored trucks you see do not have this feature, but most restored trucks have new or polished shells. If any one could shed some light on this for me, I would appreciate it. Chip.

Here these two threads I've posted to have the grill paint clarifications.

Re: Lets see Ochre and White trucks

Here's my 71 Cheyenne before I took it apart for a restoration. I wasn't a fan of the color at first, but it grows on you. I was going to repaint it Medium Green/White, but I'm thinking now I'll keep the original colors.

Re: Lets see Ochre and White trucks

This color screams "1970's". I've only owned this truck for 6 months but now this is my favorite color .... and 2 years ago I couldn't stand it. And when I want to act high class I can call it Spanish Gold ..... LMAO

Re: Lets see Ochre and White trucks

A couple off the local Craigslist. The SWB was originally a LWB that was cut down. It has a 250 6 cyl (!) 700r4 auto. The other truck is a 402 BBC/ TH400 "barn find". Neither one are mine.
