Looking at gaskets and see cheaper one pc gaskets and two pc gaskets. Steele rubber has gasket with locking strip and beading compound, thoughts? Also how do you install the locking strip? Thanks

Small back window in mine, I used the one with the locking strip. You need to buy the tool to install the locking strip. Use lots of windex for lube, take your time. It takes a 2 people. Oh, I also bought one of those cheap body panel suction cups to hold it.

The glass shop used bulk window rubber like is used on a combine or tractor window on mine but it does leave a spot where the ends meet that can shrink.

I have a small window too, and one person can do it, without the right tool, but took me literally 2.5 hours. I improvised with wood dowels and lots of diluted dishsoap for lube. I would be curious to see what the "right" tool looks like,envision it spreading the channel while leveraging the locking strip into place.

They used a standard rear window gasket to install my sliding rear window. It took 2 guys several hours and a steady stream of profanity to get it done.

Wow! Thank you that is perfect. I have a new cheap gasket that looks like crap , I'm going to go with Steele rubber gasket and there bedding compound and tools.

F bombs, some rum (but not too much) masking tape, 2 strong/determined men, lots of soapy water, suction cup handles, locking strip tool, more F bombs and soap. Nothing wrong with taking two hours to install it either!

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
