backfire after carb rebuild

I rebuilt my carb recently and now I have a backfire through the exhaust when I mash and release the throttle.

It runs and idles smooth. I adjusted the mixture needles by leaning them out until the idle dropped, then I richened it by 1/4 turn. I did not adjust the timing during my carb rebuild.

Any ideas on what could be the cause?

Re: backfire after carb rebuild

Are you sure you didn't play with the spark plug wires? It sounds like a crossed wire to me.
