im sorry, but NO 1988-1998 EVER had rally's, they either had the Sport/454SS rims (In chrome or painted), Aluminum's OR the 88-98 "Rally" with is really a steelie with a beauty ring and cap that is held on with the plastic lugnut caps.

True "Rally's" have the caps bolted on and look completely different...

I have done ALOT of research on the True Rally's, i even have 3 of the rare 6" width ones, only available on super early vans.

I didn't even think about decoding the VIN. Very cool that it's original, and I bet they didn't make many of them. I bet that 454SS with tan inside was pretty doggone rare too.

Orangette, as for what you're saying, you're totally right -- the old square body rallies were never original to these trucks. But the base steel wheels that did come on these trucks, I've heard lots of guys refer to them as "rallies," probably just because they're steel, and use a ring and cap.

i have heard people call them rally's, only reason i even said anything is he said they had the "good old chevy rally wheel"

i dont believe that's true either, pretty sure 454 in a 1/2ton was 454SS only...

Ralley wheels is mostly a generic name for steel wheels with center caps and trim rings. Even the early Pontiac GTO and Lemans mag type wheels were called rally1 and rally2 wheels in GM catalogs.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions

Rally wheels - 89 Suburban - not steel

88 C/K 3500 had a 454 (L19)

91 shows 454 (L19) in a half ton as SS only, though of course available in 3/4 and 1 ton.

Odd.
90 Sierra shows a 454 (L19) available in a half ton.
RPO B4U only, 3 Speed MX1 auto tranny only and 3.73 gears only.
Though later it shows that the B4U is a Chevrolet only option.
Which is the SS code, yes?
Very confusing.

those rallys pictured are steel, and a 1989 'Burb is the same bodystyle as 73-87 truck.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions

Welcome to the board, Sport89. I, too, like '89s. Mine isn't a sport, but it is white.

Five years ago, this month, I started this thread as I searched for the right truck for me. And, here we all are....five years on. Will we reach another five? Who knows.

The_KC_Kid,

Looks like your truck is in fine shape. Neat colour too.

Nice truck KC. There were a lot more than five of them built, but it's still pretty unique.
