I didn't mean same color or even different shade of Orange. I mean a color that looks right with your other. For instance, I had a Hugger Orange one and an Ochre one and they went well together. Not too long ago I had a red one, a white one, and a blue (and white) one. My pair I have now will end up somewhere in the gold to brown spectrum. Certainly not matching, yet complimentary to each other when parked together.

On '67s the factory 2-tone was only the top, above the rain gutter. I think it looks best. Also for the silver suggestions, good idea since Silver was a color offered that didn't carry through years, or anything close. I like the colors other years didn't get on '67s

Lets be honest, as soon as you start modifying the truck, lower stance, air bags newer engine, non-stock body mods etc. there's no more need to stick with period correct colors. My 2 cents.

Oh I dunno about all that. These trucks look best in the factory colors no matter what way you go. There is a long time distinct classic style of doing as you wish to the mechanicals, wheels, stance, etc while leaving the body the wonderful design they left the factory with that has even young people today strongly drawn to them more than most any other truck ever made. Staying factory colors is a safe way to go and not have regrets in the future when the trendy color of the day gets put behind for the next trend. If I go custom color I go with one that looks as if it could have been used in that year/era. Like a color from a GM car of same era or a very close to factory shade but with pearl. That Light Green '68 has a cream instead of Ivory for the accent color. It also has silver misted ghost flames. The truck is custom but still has a factory vibe till you look closer. Very tastefully customized in my book

Re: What color should I paint my bagged 67 short box?

If your interested in the Sea Foam green you should look at doing a metallic version like I did. It is a sixties car vintage green metallic type of color. Lots of variation of the color in different lighting. I've had lots of folks tell me they don't care for green cars but really like mine. I went with this color to try and make a close match with the stock interior color as painting the interior wasn't in the current budget. You could do the same idea with lots of the factory colors.

I didn’t say anything about the trendy color of the day. As I suggested earlier, go with the Cortez Silver from the ‘69 Camaro SS -a GM car of the same era 😉

I was simply implying that as soon as you start making changes it’s no longer stock (in the true sense of the word) so whether or not the ride bears the factory colors doesn’t matter much anymore. I do agree that the stock colors have stood the test of time, and are still worth considering.

Re: What color should I paint my bagged 67 short box?

It's all good. I think we agree. I chose the trendy color of the day words in place of custom because most people who go custom go with what's popular now, which looks dated in time. Custom can bee subtle, as in a color "almost" original. Cortez Silver is one example. '67s were available in a less exciting silver, so it's a classy custom approach. Same as my buddy's '68 I showed. That yellowish creme sets it apart while requiring a closer look to even notice the change. Same with the ghost flames. I sw his truck a couple times before I knew they were there (hadn't looked it over yet). I normally like trucks with trim and two-tone to have factory paint and leave the custom to trucks with no trim. Back in the day the first thing customizers did was strip the factory trim.

I changed colors on a '95 K3500 when I put a utility body on it. It was a base truck and the theme was like a conversion truck but built for work. It was originally Emerald Green which was a popular color on the trucks. I wanted something to stand out while being a factory color and went with Fairway Green (with extra pearl) that came on Vettes and S10s that year. It looked like it "could have" been factory.

Re: What color should I paint my bagged 67 short box?

There have been a few positive comments about green as a color and an option....with a lot of options in that category, and I would have to agree.
An excellent example of this as well is the 'Holley shop truck' (Holley fuel systems co.)....google this or on find a quick review of it on youtube.
Very cool little '67 short bed truck....and they did some great stuff under the hood making the LS engine look like a big block.

all good

Re: What color should I paint my bagged 67 short box?

Wait! Don't start yet til you hear THIS suggestion: OCHRE! Good ol solid Ochre. Can't beat it with a stick. Period perfect.
No white top, no white middle. If you MUST dare to be different, then how about a color combo I WISH GM had produced: Ochre with a black top. Mmm.
