78 c-10 headers
I need some advice from some of you with experience in installing headers and keeping them leak free. I have a '78 c-10 with a 350 and all the accessories; PS PB AC. I'd like to install headers but do not want to have to fabricate new brackets for all the accessories. I also do not want to be replacing gaskets every month. I had a '67 several years ago that had the same accessories. The headers were trouble free but I don't recall how the bracketry was done. Don't recall who made the headers either. Anyone???

In my opinion, the thicker the tubes & flanges, the less leakage you will have. Headman Elite headers are among the thickest. Headman also has good listings for bracketry.

Use either copper or aluminum gaskets. Torque the bolts to spec not just hand cranked tight.

Hedmans are very good. Plug access is great and you wont have any problems with burnt wires. They come with stock style cardboard gaskets that seem to seal very well.
Hedmans also have a good 6-8 inches LONGER primary tubes than Flowtech/Dynomax style headers which is what you want. |

Do the Hedman headers require a heaqt shield for the starter? Will they install without removing the engine?
