Steering wheel suggestions/advice

72 c10 with factory 17” wheel and tilt. I’d like a smaller steering wheel. 14” or 15”? Are the adaptors brand specific (have to match the new wheel)? Horn button included? Does the tilt column pose any install problems? I’d like a wheel that is - or looks like - wood. Sorry for all the questions. Any info/advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I installed a 60's corvette wood wheel, the dish is a bit deep and that places it pretty far out. If I were to upgrade again, I would just do a factory style comfort grip wheel. They are nice, come in a complete kit for under $200 and a little smaller diameter with less dish so it sits closer to the steering wheel.

Lots of guys have modified their shifter and turn signal levers to be shorter to go with the decrease in wheel diameter.

I have a 70s Camaro 4-spoke wheel on one vehicle and wrapped it in leather. If I was to do it again I'd pad the wheel a bit. Modern wheels are much thicker and padded so to me wood is just too hard.
GM wheels are easier to get the horn stuff set up on. I had a Grant and the horn button would stick down and was crap.
Think about where the spokes are on the wheel and if they'll obscure the view of the gauges.

That is the Comfort Grip wheel mentioned above. Optional starting in '68 or '69 on Novas, Chevelles and Camaros and was standard on the Corvette starting in '69. My favorite wheel. My Camaro has one, my short step has one, and so does my CJ-5!

x2 on the comfort grip (or the wood look version rosewood wheel). I used the black comfort grip on my previous Blazer and this time went Rosewood to tie in a bit with the wood on the door panels. You wont have a problem with busting your knuckles. If you go this route to get the best fit you need to order a hub assembly for a 67 Camaro and reuse you existing turn signal cam.

I would consider going with something like these on my 72. How hard are they to find??

I'm going this way too. Just haven't decided whether to go with black or medium blue grip. I did install the shorter controls when I rebuilt my column.

Do the sport wheel spokes block the view of the lower row of gauges? I had the camaro wheel on a previous truck and got rid of it because it blocked the view.

Here's my 15 incher, I think it is from an 88-98 truck, PO put it on.

Please no comments on the upside-down condition, I'm self-conscious enough as it is already.

I enjoy my 14" Forever Sharp wheel. The nice thing is that you can easily change the half wrap to different colors, even wood. Horn button and adapters - many styles and choices.
