starts and dies

Hello, be awhile,

I have a 1999 Silverado with 6.0.

It starts rite up then dies after 2 seconds. This is what I've done so far.

Changed fuel pump, and filter, 60 ps1 on fuel rail. Locksmith replaced ignition, No chip on key but its in ignition, checked relays, I've unplugged map MAP sensor, I've been told that it maybe the vats security system and that's why ignition got changed.
Ran scan tool and no codes found.

I hate to keep changing out parts. would crank or cam position sensor be a posibble?

Any help greatly appreciated

Re: starts and dies

The issue is the VATS passlock module. Do a relearn or replace it

Scanner or might be able to disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes.

Re: starts and dies

Mine doesn't blink when the ignition is off. My security light did some weird stuff when the system failed though. It does sound like the module, common problem on these trucks. You would have had to reprogram it though after changing the ignition.

The Vette is similar but different. Painless Wiring used to sell a bypass module for that system, I used one on a 92 Trans Am.

Thanks Sean, I was looking at those modules and videos, seems to be a common problem with these
