im told that this will work with 67 - 72 chevy's .... any opinion on the matter

I wouldnt see why it wouldnt work. Just the concept of how a cable locked hood works is a simple one so it should be fairly easy to get it to work on just about anything.

i live in a town of 3000 haha no worries there didnt even think of that im mre worried about some prick stealin my clear lenses

its been my experiance that regardless of where you live there will always be pricks that steal..... population of 10 or 100,000 ... i caught a guy breakin into my last truck .... i wasn't able to get my hands on him ...he fled too quick ... that was 5 years ago and too this day i still fantasize about what i would have done to him....

I use a piece of cable with a loop on the end. The upper end is run through a hole in the underside of the hood and the lower end drops through a hole in the pan ahead of the radiator. I then put a padlock through the lower loop so the cable can't be pulled up through the lower hole. The cable is long enough so there is a little slack but not enough so you could reach in under the hood to undo the cable clamps that hold the cable onto the hood. It is a bit of a pain to have to reach up under the bumper and unlock the padlock if you want to check the oil (especially if it is wet out or the front bumper is dirty) but it keeps people out from under the hood. I think I was a personal parts department for someone at one time. I was losing a lot of gas (locking gas caps only keep out honest people) and parts (not all from under the hood) at one time but then it stopped. I think he moved up to a newer truck. I had an alarm on the truck but often didn't hear it and therefore didn't catch him. The wind used to set off the alarm and I would have to disarm until the wind died down. Among other things, I lost my tail light lenses, spare tire, and gas pedal. It upset me a lot more then than it does now. I outlasted him.

71-longbed, how are you going to keep it from being opened from the outside after cable is installed?? Maybe a piece of sheet metal behind the grill?

I have one I bought at napa that looks exactly like this one. Works good.
