Choosing Delphi crimper for Metri-pack 280
I'm looking at a bunch of rewiring and custom wiring jobs and have decided to use primarily Metri-pack 280 connectors. I'm looking to start with my trailer since every wire on it is broken or rotten.
Where I've gotten stuck is the crimper to buy. Essentially there are three in the range I'm looking at. I'm a fan of some overkill so most of my stuff will be 14-16ga. 12155975 has holes A-D. 12085271 has holes A-E. Both claim to do wire and insulation crimps 22-12ga. Is there any significant difference besides the smaller size? When I look at the available terminal crimp charts it makes my head hurt, but it appears that to cover the range of terminals and wires correct you would need a second crimper for 10-12ga, and to cover the insulator crimp on 2-3mm wire (16-14ga) which calls for a 1 or 2 size crimper. There is a version that has holes 1-5 but that seems to be primarily for 480's and Weatherpack, which makes sense if you actually need a 12 gauge wire. Thanks!
