A little Blazer porn

Was going through some old computer files and found my stash of pics after I finished this beauty in 2009. Enjoy. I don't have it now but do miss it. Was my first restore job.

What size tires were those? I have the factory 15" white steelies on the '72 I just bought and was wondering how large you could go without rubbing on no-lift factory stance.

I don't really remember. Those wheels were factory 8 inch wide. Not blazer wheels but a vintage 1967 truck wheel. The factory steelies were 7 inch I think. They were 15 inch wheels. Let me investigate.

Re: A little Blazer porn

I was wrong! 16.5 X 8.25 steel wheels painted white with BFG all terraign TA's 33 X 12.5 X 16.5. Amazing what I can still find in the old posts. I documented the heck out of the build and posted it here back in the day.

So 33's will fit on stock height without rub?

Re: A little Blazer porn

I doubt they won’t rub if you wheel it at all and the stock springs are likely saggy. I have a 3” lift on mine with 33s and they look perfect.

That is stock height, stock springs. There was no rub at all with the setup you see and I described. When I restored that rig, it was an original, untouched time capsule with 45K miles on it. Old farm run around rig. It had some rust out of the rockers and door sills and a couple patches on the front floor boards. That was patched with the help of a local body man legend and I then sought to put it back together as it would have come from the factory. Lifted did not fit that description. The original tires and wheels always looked anemic and a tad undersized giving the blazer a somewhat top heavy appearance. That is my personal observation. That and the fact that the rear axle is slightly shorter then the front, it needed something to fill out the wheel wells and not be too obnoxious. That became the best fix I had seen. Honestly I stole ideas from the good posters on this forum and you see the result. I see that Blazer around town rarely. I wonder...did I do the right thing? The family who has it now babies it which is great. It is in better shape than when I sold it. But boy. I think I would like to do that again. I have a beautiful 1965 Impala convertible now, that I drive. Just drive. Can't get to deep into something on it because the disease will return and I will tip over into a madman obsessing over every small detail. And not be able to drive it for a few years. So for now, I drive. And smile.

"I drive and smile". I love it! We do the same in our 72 Blazer and 63 falcon convertible.

My K5 has stock height zero-lift springs and 33 x 10.5” BFGs. There’s no wheel rub at all. Same tires on my 72 GMC k1500 with original springs had no fitment issues either. I’m a fan of 33” on these trucks.

Green blazer looks great!

Re: A little Blazer porn

If it’s a street truck then you likely won’t rub. Any off-roading and there’s a good chance of hitting the fender pocket on a turn. At least this is what I’ve heard. Everyone has different experiences it seems.
